Advanced graphics beyond your paygrade
Last week I talked about easy ways to make your own graphics. This is all good and simple, but what happens when the graphics you are looking to create are way too complex for you to make? I'm talking about creating your business's logo or any branded materials. It might be time to turn to a graphic designer. In this blog, I will talk about how to find a graphic designer, what you need to gather before you contact them and what to expect.
Finding your ideal designer
Just like any business, graphic designers often focus on a niche or targeted area. They all have their own style and you want to find one that suits your business. Start by researching graphic designers in your area. Do a quick Google search by typing "graphic designers in (city, state)." You can find some on Instagram, which is where I found my graphic designer who created my logo. Another place worth checking into is local colleges. Many students are looking to build a portfolio, so this could be a budget-friendly way to find one. Make sure to ask about pricing. Some often charge by the hour, others have a set rate.
You found a graphic designer, now what?
Have a solid idea of what you want. If you are looking to have a logo created, what do you want it to look like? Go to Pinterest to find some logos similar to the style you are looking for. Another thing to think about is the color scheme you want to reflect your brand. Gather all your ideas so you can send them to your graphic designer once you are ready. This will make the process faster and give them a strong foundation.
What to expect once you have sent everything
Depending on the complexity of your project and the experience level of your graphic designer, make sure to give them plenty of time. They may give you a few options before you find exactly what you were looking for. It is all apart of the process. Once your graphic has been created, they will often send it in an email.
